This page sets out, in full, every way money can change hands with this publication, what each one costs today, and what none of them buys. Nothing on this page is currently on sale. Read it as a statement of policy, not as a rate card.

Most publications put a rate card on this page. This one does not, because at the time of writing there is nothing to sell: no sponsor has been accepted, no directory entry has been taken, no referral partner has been appointed and no rate has been set. Rather than leave the page off the site, which is what a publication does when it would prefer the arrangement not to be examined, we have written down the whole commercial position as it actually stands.

The two declared formats

The footer of every page on this site names two commercial lines, and they are the only two that exist.

A sponsor slot in the weekly email digest. One slot per issue, placed after the editorial rather than inside it, and marked as a sponsor slot where a reader cannot miss it. It does not appear in the article, it does not appear in the subject line, and it carries no editorial introduction. No rate is set for it and none has been quoted to anyone.

A supplier directory entry. Alphabetical, marked as paid, with no score, no star rating, no order of merit and no best of list. The directory is empty. There are no paid entries, and none are being solicited. We would rather publish an empty directory and say so than fill it with companies that never asked to appear.

Formats under consideration, and not yet offered

Two further formats are being considered. Neither exists, neither has terms, and neither should be read as available.

A practitioner benchmark. A periodic, methodological comparison of how a defined task is performed across the market, published with its sample, its method, its date and its limitations stated plainly. If it ever runs, participation would not be purchasable, the method would be published before the results, and a company that paid for anything else on this site would get no advantage in it.

A referral route. A route from a reader enquiry to a provider that can act on it. This would only run with a provider we have actually checked, with the relationship disclosed at the point of the link, with the link marked rel="sponsored", and with the reader told plainly that the provider has paid and that we are not recommending them on merit. Nothing of the kind is live and no provider has been approached.

What money never buys here

This part is not negotiable and does not change with the size of the budget.

  • A mention in an article, or the subject of one.
  • An editorial link, anywhere, at any price.
  • Sight of a piece before it is published, or a quotation approved in advance.
  • A veto on anything, or the removal of accurate material.
  • Position in any list, comparison or benchmark, or a better position in one.
  • The removal or softening of a competitor's coverage.

A commercial relationship with this publication is disclosed. It is never rewarded. If a company that has paid for a sponsor slot is later the subject of accurate critical coverage, the coverage runs and the slot is not a factor in whether it does.

The rules we work to

Everything above follows the UK Code of Non-broadcast Advertising and Direct and Promotional Marketing, the CAP Code, which is administered by the Advertising Standards Authority and requires that marketing communications are obviously identifiable as such. In practice that means a paid placement on this site is labelled as paid, in plain words, before a reader has read it, and a paid link carries rel="sponsored". We do not use the words partner, featured or in association with to blur a paid placement into editorial.

We also do not make performance claims about this publication. No audience figure, reach number, open rate, subscriber count or traffic claim appears on this page, because any figure we quoted would have to be independently verifiable and we are not going to publish one that is not.

How to enquire

Commercial enquiries go to hello@digitalpulsemag.co.uk . Tell us which of the formats above you are asking about and what you are trying to achieve. An honest answer may well be that the format is not running, in which case that is the answer you will get.

Editorial enquiries, contribution proposals and corrections are a different matter entirely and go to editorial@digitalpulsemag.co.uk . A correction is free, is always welcome, and is never affected by whether the person asking has ever paid us anything. Our full editorial position is on the editorial standards page, and how the publication is run is set out on the about page.

Status of this page. Nothing described here is currently on sale. No rate has been set, no sponsor has been accepted, the supplier directory is empty, no benchmark has run and no referral partner has been appointed or approached. This page will be updated when any of that changes, and the date below will change with it.
